GENDER IN LINGUISTICS

Abstract

Gender studies is a new discipline within the corps of humanitarian sciences in the transitional countries. The difference between male and female usage of language is thoroughly discussed in sociolinguistic studies. Modern sociolinguistic research traditions put particular weight on conversation, and use the term vernacular to mean ―the language used by ordinary people in their everyday affairs‖ and ―the style in which the minimum of attention is given to the monitoring of speech‖.
