One of the possible ways to mitigate the negative consequences of forest fires is to increase the fire
resistance of forest-forming species. To develop scientifically based fire prevention measures in
forests, a comprehensive assessment of the degree of their fire resistance is necessary. The article
identifies the main factors that determine the resistance of forest-forming species to fire impact. Factors
such as stand diameter, crown distance, root depth, fuel reserves, number and height of undergrowth,
as well as the presence of other species were used to assess fire resistance. The degree of fire resistance
was evaluated using a point-based system by calculating the sum of weighted points. Field studies were
conducted in 2023-2024. The results of the fire resistance assessment of forest-forming species enable
the planning and implementation of forestry and fire prevention measures aimed at increasing the
resilience of forested areas to fire impact.
