<title>Wealth/Poverty Opposition in English and Kazakh: A Comparative Study</title>
<link>http://repository.enu.kz/handle/enu/29051</link>
<description>Wealth/Poverty Opposition in English and Kazakh: A Comparative Study
Kerimbayeva, Kamila; Beisenbai, Ardak
This research employs linguistic concept modeling to scrutinize the semantic variations between notions of wealth and poverty in English &#13;
and Kazakh, aiming to discern their contrasting characteristics. The corpora in English and Kazakh encompassing varied genres, styles, &#13;
and thematic content were examined through word frequency and co-occurrence to elucidate divergent contextual frames for the terms in &#13;
both languages, unveiling cultural nuances and cognitive associations. The results indicate that in English, wealth is majorly associated &#13;
with financial prosperity, real estate ownership, and the availability of resources for a comfortable lifestyle. Conversely, in &#13;
Kazakh-language writings, the concept of wealth extends to encompass elements like family connections and devotion to the homeland, &#13;
reflecting cultural priorities and lifestyles. A comparable distinction is evident when examining the contextual usage of the term poverty. &#13;
The findings underscore the significance of exploring linguistic concepts within distinct cultural and cognitive frameworks, opening &#13;
avenues for further comparative linguistic research.

<title>Value Priorities of Student Youth in the Multi-Ethnic Space of Kazakhstan and Their Influence on Intercultural Communications</title>

<description>Value Priorities of Student Youth in the Multi-Ethnic Space of Kazakhstan and Their Influence on Intercultural Communications
Zharkynbekova, Sholpan; Shakhputova, Zukhra; Galiyeva, Bakhyt; Absadyk, Almasbek
This article aims to describe the value priorities of Kazakhstani student youth&#13;
and explore their relationship with traditions, the culture of ethnic groups in Kazakhstan,&#13;
state ideological attitudes, and the influence of external cultures. This paper addresses&#13;
the impact of the multinational environment and globalization on the formation of values&#13;
among students in Kazakhstan. This article analyzes empirical data collected through&#13;
a mixed-methods questionnaire, developed in accordance with the well-known value&#13;
measurement methodologies of M. Rokeach and Sh. Schwartz. The results show that&#13;
although traditional values remain significant, the growing exposure of young people to&#13;
global influences and socio-political changes indicates a dynamic evolution of their value&#13;
system, reflecting both continuity and changes in the cultural landscape of Kazakhstan.&#13;
The key value for Kazakhstani students is family, which suggests sufficient harmony&#13;
in the life models chosen by these students. The significance of this study lies in its&#13;
potential to contribute to the establishment of a system of relations in which different&#13;
cultures can engage in dialogue, preserve their historical trajectories, and maintain mutual&#13;
respect among representatives of diverse ethnicities and social groups. This study also&#13;
holds implications for the development of legislative mechanisms aimed at respecting&#13;
Kazakhstan’s national interests in international communication.

<title>Value Perception of the Chronotope in the Author’s Discourse (Based on the Works of Kazakh Authors)</title>
<link>http://repository.enu.kz/handle/enu/29049</link>
<description>Value Perception of the Chronotope in the Author’s Discourse (Based on the Works of Kazakh Authors)
Zhiyenalina, Aizhan; Anishchenko, Olga; Zharkynbekova, Sholpan
The relevance of the study is due to the increased interest of researchers in the study of the&#13;
chronotope category in recent decades, and the lack of a unified approach to the analysis of the chronotope&#13;
in the scientific community. The purpose of the article is to study the value aspects of space-time in the&#13;
author’s mind through the study of the linguistic representation of the chronotope in Kazakh fiction and&#13;
journalistic prose. To achieve the goal, the article uses a structural, biographical, hermeneutical, and comparative method. The article studies the spatiotemporal organization of literary texts of Kazakh writers: “Diary&#13;
of a trip to Issyk-Kul” by Sh.Sh. Ualikhanov, “Tuyuk su” by G.K. Belger,” and “The tale of a century-old steppe&#13;
man” by B.T. Alimzhanov. Based on the study of literary texts, using the indicated methodology, the key&#13;
chronotopes for each selected work are identified. It has been established that the category of space-time in&#13;
all the studied works is characterized by complexity, diversity, and multidimensionality. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the method of analysis of the chronotope category presented in the&#13;
article can be applied in the study of the chronotope in literary texts.

<title>Vagrant Population and the Causes of Criminal Acts in Pre-Revolutionary Siberia in the Political and Legal Ideological Heritage of N.M. Yadrintseva</title>
<link>http://repository.enu.kz/handle/enu/29048</link>
<description>Vagrant Population and the Causes of Criminal Acts in Pre-Revolutionary Siberia in the Political and Legal Ideological Heritage of N.M. Yadrintseva
Golovinov, Alexander V.; Ibragimov, Zhamaladen; Vasilev, Anton A.; Kenispaev, Zhumageldy
The purpose of the research is to demonstrate and reconstruct the political and legal ideas of the &#13;
Siberian regionalist Nikolai Mikhailovich Yadrintsev in the field of factors of criminalization and the growth &#13;
of crime in the pre-revolutionary period of the history of state and law in Siberia.&#13;
The material in the work is the journalistic works of the Siberian educator on the topic of the causes of &#13;
crime in the Asian part of Russia. The author's articles published in Tue. floor. XIX century, as well as his &#13;
book on prison studies and the penal policy of the autocracy (1872).&#13;
The methodological basis for the work was the paradigm of narratology. We consider the historical &#13;
comprehension of political and legal views, expressed in the form of textual expression of ideas and ideals, to &#13;
be most successfully possible using the tools of narrative history.&#13;
The article emphasizes that, guided by the principle of dialectical materialism, the regionalist publicist &#13;
believed that criminal statistics should demonstrate the interdependence of personal reasons and social &#13;
influence on intentional criminal acts.&#13;
The authors come to the conclusion that the worldview of the ideologist of Siberian regionalism was &#13;
characterized by a concept based on an integrated approach and the Hegelian principle of the dialectical &#13;
unity of all factors and causes that lead to criminal acts in Siberia. The social stratification of the region was &#13;
powerfully influenced by the punitive nature of the colonization of the East of pre-revolutionary Russia. &#13;
The scale of the social impact of convicts, exiles, thieves, robbers, and tramps was impressive. This was &#13;
expressed in an increase in crimes and was accompanied by a lack of faith in the law as the embodiment of &#13;
the fight against evil.&#13;
It is also shown that in his political and legal thought the famous Siberian attached importance to the &#13;
wandering population as the main factor in the spread and growth of crime. He associated with this class the &#13;
total criminalization of society in the East of the country. Exile and hard labor were considered as &#13;
accompanying negative factors of deviations and atrocities in Siberia.
