dc.description.abstract Avalanche destructions in long-distance gas pipe lines are of great importance in the uninter rupted transport of commercial gas on an international and national scale in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the study, an analysis of pipe line accidents showed that such incidents can lead to large casualties and cause enormous economic damage. The statistics of damages in pipe line transport showed that a significant part of accidents occur due to corrosion of the pipe material, concentration of stresses and structural defects, as well as due to external actions. In the work, all these reasons were analyzed and, as a solution for localization or control of avalanche de structions, the authors proposed the prestressing method, which has been studied by the authors for a long time in various problems. As the review showed, the solution of such a problem has an international and national scale, which undoubtedly emphasizes the relevance of the direction. The purpose of this article is to study and fill the gap in the issue of the features of the propagation of destructions in long-distance gas pipe lines and the development of sound methods and techniques for assessing the resistance of pipes to destructions. ru
