Abstract:
The article deals with the concept of linguistic competence, the linguistic abilities of
trainees. This article discusses the arguments for using authentic texts in the classroom as one of the ways
to form linguistic competence and the problems created for learners as a result of using such texts. The
topic contains general information on authentic texts and their effective use in classes. There are different
definitions for authentic texts, but they have something in common. All definitions emphasize the fact that
authentic texts mean impact on the real language and its use in its own community.
